On 1 January 2026, at the dawn of the new year, the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation Beethoven Music Special Fund was formally launched at the AIA Grand Theatre in Shanghai's North Bund.

This special fund aims to nurture youth through music, empowering their development and enhancing aesthetic education in resource-scarce and remote regions. It actively responds to national aesthetic education policies and the strategy for cultural exchange and mutual learning, striving to build bridges for in-depth dialogue between Chinese and German youth through music—a universal language. The initiative seeks to establish a comprehensive youth music development platform centred on music, thereby strengthening the foundations of grassroots friendship between China and other nations.

Yang Yongmei, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Children and Teenagers' Fund, and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation, attended the ceremony and presented plaques to the initiative's founding team: Ms Zeng Xiao, Ms Yin Chao, and Mr Wang Zhixing.

The Shanghai Song Qingling Foundation's Beethoven Music Special Fund focuses on ‘supporting the underprivileged and nurturing excellence’ in youth music development, planning to advance four core initiatives:

‘Young Beethoven Support Programme’

Provides educational development support for musically gifted young people lacking access to essential resources.

The ‘Beethoven Music Classroom Programme’

Focuses on schools with significant gaps in music education resources, supporting campus music education equipment and curricula.

The ‘Beethoven Youth Orchestra Practice Programme’

Establishes the Beethoven Youth Symphony Orchestra, selecting outstanding young musical talents nationwide to conduct regular public benefit performances and social presentations.

The ‘Beethoven Journey Exchange Programme’

Builds a cross-border artistic exchange platform to promote dialogue and cooperation between China's outstanding culture and world music.

Joining Forces to Resonate a New Chapter of Music for Good
